About the Lebanon Life Saving Crew
Lebanon Life Saving Crew is a combination paid/volunteer EMS agency that serves the citizens of the Town of Lebanon and Russell County. Its primary role is to respond to emergency 911 calls for help and to provide high-quality patient care within its coverage area, as well as assisting the other EMS agencies in the county through mutual aide. Lebanon Life Saving Crew also provides service for patients who require transportation from the local hospitals to other facilities that are better suited to meet the patients needs.
Lebanon Life Saving Crew consists of both basic and advanced care providers who are available twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. These providers spend countless hours in training and continuing education in order to maintain their knowledge and skills so as to provide the highest level of care available to those in need. There are also providers trained in the use of rescue and extrication equipment for those situations that a patient is entrapped with no other means of freeing themselves.
As previously mentioned, there are both volunteers and employees serving within the agency. Volunteers for the Senior Crew must be eighteen years of age and commit to one (1) twelve-hour shift per week. Upon acceptance to the Life Saving Crew, members must complete CPR training and an emergency vehicle operators course (EVOC) as soon as possible and are required to complete EMT-Basic training within one year. Volunteers for the Junior Crew must be at least sixteen years of age and have good academic standing in school.
As of August 2011, an Auxiliary membership for the Life Saving Crew was formed to support the mission and quest of the Life Saving Crew itself. The members of this group do not participate in the day-to-day operations of the Crew, but rather support the crew through fundraisers and other community activities, as well as providing meals for the Crew members on large incidents and monthly meetings.
The employees of Lebanon Life Saving Crew must be at least twenty-one years old with a valid drivers license, a clear driving record, and maintain a current EMS certification of at least EMT-Basic and a current EVOC certification. Both employees and volunteers follow the same policies and procedures and are held at the same standards, with the exception of a time requirement, which is dictated by the needs of the schedule to provide coverage.
